ABOUT ME

I grew up in the UK loving nature and traveI. I remember my first camping trips in France and Switzerland as a child, and looking back it was probably those holidays that awoke the wanderlust in me. I left England in my mid 20s and since then have lived in various places before settling in Lisbon, Portugal.

A love of travelling has been a constant in my life, and a love of photography grew naturally out of that alongside a desire to capture the places I saw and the impression they made on me.  This was followed by writing blogs and contributing articles to magazines, which in turn led to leading workshops and combining photography with the skills from my previous career as a teacher. Since then my work has appeared in magazines all over the world, including Practical Photography, Digital Photographer, Australian Photography and National Geographic. I partner with international clients like Fujifilm, DJI, Capture One, F-Stop Gear and Squarespace, and lead workshops to some of the planet’s most beautiful spots.

My focus nowadays is on traveling, shooting landscapes and  teaching photography through workshops, film-making and writing.  I lead multiple workshops each year partnering with experienced local photographers and guides who know the areas we’re visiting. And beyond that, I'm still inspired by visiting new places and new cultures, and find incredible happiness comes from being out in the natural world.

MY GEAR

I shoot with Fuji X series cameras and I’m proud to be a brand ambassador for Fuji in Portugal and one of their X Photographers. I currently use a Fuji GFX 100S, X-T5 and X-S10 along with various Fujinon lenses. Before switching to Fuji, I spent around 8 years using Nikon dSLRs.

I switched to Fujifilm cameras as they fit with my philosophy to travel as light as possible, and aside from the camera gear I use either Pro Media Gear TRS344 or Gitzo Traveller carbon fibre tripods. I use F Stop backpacks to carry my gear and Kase circular filters in the field. Post-processing is done using Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop CC, and occasionally Capture One Pro.

Since 2017 I've dedicated more time to making films.  Over the last couple of years video technology has reached a point where it's possible to carry an array of tools for film-making, like the DJI Air 2S or Mavic 3 for example, without compromising on my photography equipment or increasing the size and weight of my backpack.

I also partner with Sustainable Travel International to ensure my workshops are as close to carbon neutral as possible by offsetting the carbon footprint and reducing the environmental impact.  Sustainable Travel International works with local communities, governments and businesses, and invests in projects which aim to conserve ecosystems, reduce tourism’s carbon footprint and lesson the amount of waste and pollution from tourism.
