WORKSHOP TESTIMONIALS

As a first-time participant in Andy Mumford's photography workshop in Iceland, I can confidently say that it was an absolute delight from start to finish.

From majestic waterfalls to dramatic coastal vistas, Andy guided us to the most picturesque spots, ensuring that we had ample time to capture stunning photographs.

Andy's genuine passion for photography created a welcoming atmosphere and throughout this workshop, Andy generously shared his expertise.

Overall, this workshop in Iceland exceeded my expectations. If you're looking for a knowledgeable instructor, breathtaking locations, and plenty of shooting time, look no further.

I can't wait to join him again!

- Geert Remmery, Belgium

I've been following Andy on social media for the past few years. Finally, this year (March 2024), I was able to join him and Jeroen on the Iceland winter workshop. The workshop was very well organized and both Andy and Jeroen are such wonderful people. They are knowledgeable as our photography guides but they also do really care about us throughout the entire trip on other levels. I would highly recommend the workshop to anyone who either just got into photography for some time and look to further improve their knowledge or for people who want to take the their skills and understanding of the landscape photography to the next level. Thanks Andy and Jeroen for the amazing time in Iceland! I do hope to be back in another trip with you guys in the future!

Reflecting on my recent expedition to the breathtaking Lofoten Islands with Andy Mumford, I'm filled with a profound sense of gratitude and exhilaration. Despite facing some of the most extreme weather conditions Norway has seen in decades – think hurricanes, snowstorms and relentless rain – Andy's guidance and infectious enthusiasm turned what could have been a daunting experience into a thrilling adventure.

During the midst of the hurricane, Andy's words resonated deeply: 'You can't control the weather, but you can control your attitude.' His unwavering positivity and adaptability inspired us to embrace the elements, transforming challenges into opportunities for creativity and growth.

Throughout our journey, Andy struck the perfect balance between professionalism and humour. His expert guidance elevated my photography skills while his easy-going nature fostered a sense of camaraderie among the group. We laughed in the face of adversity, finding joy in every rain-soaked moment and wind-whipped landscape.

The friendships forged amidst the storms are ones I know will endure beyond the shores of Lofoten. Andy's ability to cultivate such a vibrant and supportive environment speaks volumes about his leadership and genuine passion for sharing his craft.

As I reflect on this unforgettable experience, I'm filled with excitement for future adventures with Andy. His workshops are not just about photography; they're about embracing the beauty of the moment, no matter the situation. I eagerly look forward to the next opportunity to explore the world with Andy, knowing that each adventure will be filled with laughter, learning, and lasting memories

Attending a workshop with Andy and his team is an opportunity to step outside your day to day life and devote time to being creative, improving your photography, and seeing breathtaking places you otherwise may never see. It was an unforgettable experience. Not only did I learn invaluable skills in composition, lighting, and post-processing techniques, but I also gained a deeper appreciation for the natural world and a drive to spend more time outside. Being in the company of other photographers was at the same time fun and challenged me to be more intentional with my photography. From start to finish, every detail of the trip was well planned and taken care of, safety was paramount, and even at the end of the world, Andy can find the best snacks.

It’s hard to explain how much I enjoyed this workshop in the Dolomites. It ended up being the pivotal photography experience that I was seeking/needing. Such a privilege to be able to spend time with such amazing artists/people at beautiful locations.

- Russel Blessing, USA

The Dolomites in 2023 was the second of Andy’s workshops I have been on. It would be easy to think that after Iceland in 2022 things couldn’t get any better, but that is far from the truth. He has a relaxed teaching style and a determination to find you the best photographic opportunities, sometimes in testing conditions. I can’t recommend his workshops enough and I’m already booked to go with him to Patagonia in 2024.

- Roger Care, UK

I was fortunate to have the opportunity to experience the Iceland Highlands photography workshop with Andy Mumford and Jeroen Van Nieuwenhove in 2023. Both of them with their light hearted personalities makes it easy for the group to get to know each other and provided a foundation for a positive group dynamics.

At each location, Andy and Jeroen would always ensure that we will leave that location with at least one photo that we were happy with. They were always willing to give advice on how to best capture a scene and how to enhance it in Lightroom/Photoshop.

Besides coming home with lots of amazing photos, I also had an amazing experience with them. This was my first ever photography workshop and I truly enjoyed it. I would have no hesitation to recommend this workshop to anyone

- Alvin Huang, Singapore

I have been fortunate enough to join Andy on two of his workshops. First in Norway at the Lofoten with Jonas Paurel and secondly in Iceland together with Jeroen Van Nieuwenhove.

The fact that I signed up for a second workshop should be proof enough that I really enjoyed the experience.

You can't control the weather, but all other aspects of the trip that you do have control over are perfectly taken care of. What I really apricate about both workshops is the fact that besides the spectacular photography locations, the hotel, dinner locations and for example the transportation are all of high standards.

Enjoying an excellent diner with the group after a day of photography is such a nice way to wrap up the day. The excellent organization of the workshops will make sure that the trip becomes a memory that will last a lifetime.

I have been fortunate enough to travel extensively throughout my work life and in my retirement. I love photography and combined with adventurous travel, this has become my passion. Please don’t tell my partner, but I’m now close to 20 specialist photo workshop & tours, 6 wildlife safaris and countless adventure trips with my partner and friends when I always take my camera along. So I like to think that I can recognise a great photo tour when I see one. Having also travelled extensively in Africa and undertaken many photo workshops, I had high expectations of my trip to Namibia and these were surpassed.

Put simply - this tour of Southern Namibia has been the best photo travel experience of my lifetime so far!

I don’t say that lightly - especially since I have my name down with Andy for three more workshops so I am expecting the standards to stay extremely high!!!

Andy has a fantastic team with Hougaard, Jandre and Simon for his Namibian tours. This team is top class - they are trustworthy and set expectations honestly which builds even more trust when they deliver consistently. Even when something went wrong (that was entirely outside their control) they had the issue identified and we were on the road to recovery within a few minutes - their professionalism and pride in the experience they offer to their clients is outstanding.

I don’t normally write testimonials, as I pride myself in being 100% honest and transparent, but on this occasion I was happy to write it with full integrity and Andy and his Namibian Workshop team deserve every accolade for delivering such a fantastic experience.

Many thanks,

- Mike Pilkington, Ireland

I was lucky to finally be able to get on this long awaited Tuscany's spring workshop. Both Andy and Jonas are so talented and knowledgeable about landscape photography which gave me a lot of hands-on experience which will stay with me. The tour was very well planned from the airport pick-up, daily activities and visiting many awesome vistas, with some being "less known & crowded" where we had most of the location to ourselves. Their kind and patient personalities created an environment that made it even a more enjoyable experience for me to ask as many questions & to apply the learnings. We ate at so many great places and had so much fun & laughs throughout the workshop. We had such a fantastic group where everyone was willing to share and help each other too. Thank you guys for this amazing trip and hope to see you on the next workshop soon!

What an incredible experience spending 12 amazing days in Namibia with Andy, his partners Hougaard and Jandre and their team of professionals!  This was hands-down the best photographic workshop experience I’ve ever had.  I’m a loyal repeat client of Andy’s, having previously enjoyed a couple of weeks with him in the Dolomites.  Here are three main reasons why Andy’s workshops are a cut above what others offer:  1) Expert guidance and coaching throughout the process from planning, to capturing, to post processing.  2) Photographic opportunities at some of the most amazing locations on our planet, and 3) Unsurpassed logistical planning and execution in all facets of the trip, including travel, lodging, and meals, along with great communication throughout.

Guidance -   Whether this is your first workshop or you have been on many before, you will quickly discover that Andy and his colleagues take it to the next level in terms of guidance and coaching as photographers.  If you have not seen his videos, check them out.  You will see Andy’s calm, patient, and personable teaching style reflected in his tutorials, and this is exactly what he’s like in person.  Andy, Hougaard and Jandre each have a wonderful hands-on style.  If you’ve been on workshops where the guide takes you to a location, throws out a few tips, and then walks away to burn a cigarette and leaves you to it, then you will be in for a refreshing change.  Andy and his team constantly work their way through the group, checking on everyone, answering questions, and offering suggestions.  Their focus is YOU, first, last and always.

Locations - The places you’ll photograph are each amazing and unique.  Your knowledgeable guides will discuss the history of diamond mining in Namibia as you explore and photograph an early 1900’s mining camp ghost town that has been partially reclaimed by the desert sands.  You’ll spend an amazing three days in Sossusvlei photographing massive wind swept, ochre-colored dunes bathed in the warm light of the Namibian sunrises and sunsets.  You’ll also journey to the hidden valley of Deadvlei, where you’ll capture centuries-old trees in the incredible patterns of light and shadow.  There’s also enjoy a thrilling two hour helicopter ride in an aerial photography session over Sossusvlei, where you’ll photograph dramatic patterns of light and shadow playing across the dunes in the early morning light.   The final portion of the workshop will take you on an exhilarating 4WD drive over huge sand dunes through the Namib desert out to the Skeleton Coast where you have the opportunity to capture a tapestry of light and shadow patterns amongst the unspoiled dunes.  Time spent there will also includean evening spent next to a 70 year old shipwreck.  Throughout, you will also be able to see and capture images of amazing wildlife such as oryx, springbok and jackals, as well as astrophotography of the Milky Way rising above unique quiver trees, which are found only in parts of Namibia and South Africa.

Planning and Execution - When it comes to logistics, communication, accommodation, and all those details that combine for a remarkable landscape photography experience, this workshop sets the bar by which others should be measured.  Andy and his team take a very challenging itinerary involving hours of travelling over gravel roads and traversing a sea of massive sand dunes and make it look easy.  There is never a crazy rush to catch the light - everything runs smoothly.  As professionals at their trade, they build in backup plans to keep on time and schedule for those inevitable occasions when challenges arise.  At the end of your day, you will stay at first rate accommodations such as the Dead Valley Lodge in Sossusvlei (Google it!) where you will be able to sample some of Namibia’s delicious game and relax around the fire, reveling in stories of the day with your new found friends.  On your remote location on the Skeleton Coast you’ll make camp in your own private tent, where you’ll be treated to meals cooked out of the back of a truck that rival some of the finest restaurants.  I’m still not sure how they managed it so well, and I challenge you not to gain weight by the end of the trip!  Throughout, there’s never any confusion as to what’s going on, as you will be kept very well informed every step of the journey.

Again, this wasn’t my first trip with Andy and it certainly won’t be my last.  The experience was worth every penny, and is one that I will remember fondly for the rest of my life.  I can’t wait for the next opportunity to join Andy, his partners Hougaard and his team of professionals as they lead one of his amazing workshops in the future.

An eye-opener

I had already been in Tuscany a few years ago. But, having previously met Andy and Jonas and seeing that they were organizing a photo workshop there, I jumped right in without hesitation. And it was an eye-opener!. Andy and Jonas possess an exquisite sense of composition and ‘visual design’ that they strive to convey to their ‘pupils’ in the workshop sessions. A typical day would include sunrise and sunset shoots in chosen and sometimes less well known locations. Both enthusiastically supported and encouraged each participant, practically and theoretically. I can honestly say that I came away with more skills and a slightly different and richer mindset towards landscape photography. And then there was the great logistics of all the workshop and, most of all, the excellence of the group of participants. Strangers having never met, for the first hour, comrades and friends at the end. What a group of great people with whom to share lively conversations, good (very good!) meals and tips and tricks about our common hobby/passion. I came back only a few days ago but I can’t wait to go on another ‘adventure’.

- João Pinheiro, Portugal

Call it good fortune, providence, or serendipity but the stars seemed to align for me to accompany Andy and Jonas on the Tuscany 2023 Photography Workshop. I was on the waitlist and to my surprise Andy reached out to let me know there was an opening. I’d never attended a photo-workshop before, so I immediately jumped on the opportunity. What a fantastic experience it is to spend a week that’s specifically designed around what you love doing, surrounded by other like-minded people who are as passionate as you are about the craft of photography. The preparation, planning and dedication demonstrated by Andy and Jonas became apparent in the instructional work sessions, inspirational locations they selected and the encouragement along the way. There’s also an organic camaraderie that evolved amongst our small group of fellow photographers, which was an unforeseen bonus. I actually looked forward to sharing dinners with them each evening, despite the fact that I spent the entire day with them. We chatted about a great many things while dining on savory Tuscan fare.

My takeaways were practical, tangible and actionable. I will literally think about things differently and do things a bit differently when I scout, compose, shoot and process my images.

If you’ve never treated yourself to a photography workshop, don’t hesitate to sign up for one of their trips. But be warned, you may become hooked.

- Johnny Vitorovich, USA

I joined Andy and Andrea for a great workshop into the Dolomites in 2022. Everything was well organized from start to finish. The locations were beautiful and well selected and the session were always successful and a lot of fun. Andy and Andrea led the workshop with great enthusiasm and technical skill. They were always ready to help or answer any questions that came up. The editing sessions were also really helpful and every participant got personal editing time with the professionals. The accomodations and the food were also an big highlight and really amazing! I highly reccommend this workshop and will definitely participate again!

- Nicolai Duda, Germany

What a fantastic experience the Namibia workshop was! There are not many workshops that give you great opportunities for landscapes, night-scapes, astrophotography , and a small bit of wildlife over the course of 12 days. By far my favorite part of the trip was the two days of camping in the dunes on the skeleton coast.

- Scott Garland, USA

Namibia with Andy, Hougaard and Jandre. Spoiler alert……fantastic experience!!

First and foremost the people: Andy, Hougaard and Jandre’ are fantastic human being, before being excellent photographers, instructors, organizers and, especially in the case of Jandre’ and Hougaards tyre changes.

The whole experience was colored by fantastic camaraderie in fantastic locations, with incredible conditions. Namibia is an amazing place to photograph. The local knowledge brought to bear by our guides and instructors made it unique.

Last, but not least our accommodations have been very good throughout with excellent food and very convenient. Would love to be back tomorrow.

- Ludovico Guarani, USA

I was given the Lofoten in Winter Workshop as a surprise and a very welcome birthday gift. It was really an amazing experience that has fundamentally changed how I think about landscape photography. I consider myself a beginner / hobby photographer and even as such I never felt that either Andy or Jonas would shrug off my questions as stupid. Both organizers are very professional and are always approachable. Although Andy has amazing videos online, nothing beats the immediacy of shooting in the wild and having the feedback on what you do right there. On top of all that I thoroughly enjoyed the social aspect of the workshop, sense of humor, food and the overall atmosphere. Great experience and a great gift

- Jan Provaznik, Czech Republic

My wife and I joined Andy for a wonderful workshop in Tuscany Spring 2022. His style and ability to share techniques on capturing the beautiful locations we visited was amazing. He was always available to answer any questions and was clearly very passionate about teaching new techniques, whether behind the camera or editing.

By limiting the size to six people, everyone had individualized attention tailor fitted to each one’s needs and experience. Our group was wonderful, and we now consider them our friends.

The accommodations were very comfortable and clean, and the Italian cuisine was fabulous. I would highly recommend this Workshop.

Thank you again for an amazing experience and for imparting your knowledge.

- Christine and Peter Fownes, US

I had the wonderful opportunity of joining Andy for a workshop to The Dolomites.  A workshop that exceeded all my expectations and hopes!  We were delighted with photo opportunities though each sunrise/set evaluating the region's weather and choosing location wisely.  During the photoshoots, our guides were very hands-on, shooting and working through opportunities with us based on their experience.  The workshop did not end with the photoshoots.  We spent ample time between shoots processing images, discussing challenges and just ensuring each time we went out would be more delightful than the last!

Finally, a very pleasant surprise were the rest of the participants in the workshop.  It is obvious Andy attracts a mature, intelligent and pleasant crowd … and one that pushes an already great workshop to a stellar experience I will cherish always.

Thank you Andy ...  Until next time my friend!

— Nahid Bhoja, Canada

This was a very special trip. Each location offered unique challenges and rewards that ensured enthusiasm was constantly renewed. Complementing the locations was the fact that each instructor brought their own skills and personality to the group. It was well organized, I learned lots and had fun.

- Christopher Cobbledick, Canada

This workshop took place in such dramatic scenery and with such a range of weather and light that almost anyone could take a good picture. However our mentors showed us how to convert a photograph into a superb image that would grace any wall or screen. The principles that allow an image to transcend the mundane were clearly set out and we were patiently guided through their application. Deviations from these principles were received openly, discussed and their validity accepted.

The, sometimes extreme, weather and location conditions enabled us to gain experience of handling and caring for delicate equipment in trying conditions.

We were expertly shepherded between several inspiring locations and given adequate advice on negotiating the difficulties of terrain and weather that we came across.

The food was sufficient, tasty and occasionally reached gourmet status.

The accommodation was basic, functional and conveniently located.

- Alan Lord, UK

What a great experience, two professional photographers in one of the most beautiful places teaching you how to create better photographs. The Dolomites are stunning and I would go back to this location in a heartbeat and part of that is Andy’s knowledge of  them, putting us in the best spot so that we could succeed in telling that story. The workshop is a good mix of both their skills so that I felt like I could improve my photography two-fold. I also thoroughly enjoyed working with my fellow attendees in the workshop who just enhanced the experience as well. What else can I say , I loved it and I would go on any workshop run by Andy, any time, anywhere.

— Carrie Trimble, USA

Even if I live near to the Dolomites and visited the place a few times before, this workshop was an amazing experience. Andy and Andrea managed to take us to incredible places and give us all the support to capture stunning images. Being out at the right time to the right places shows, how well prepared this workshop was. Thank you Andy and Andrea for an incredible week.

— Dieter Beikler, Germany

The outdoor photography workshop put on by Andy was one of the great experiences of my life.  The setting in the Italian Dolomites is literally breathtaking and provided a wide array of stunning visual experiences that we learned to capture effectively.  The instruction was personalized throughout the workshop, with close personal attention paid to every participant, accommodating both the experienced photographer and the novice, like myself.  We learned the basics of photography, with both leaders expert in the various camera and lens systems that the participants showed up with.  They were friendly and helpful, providing meaningful and honest critiques throughout, which enhanced our knowledge base.

Andy and his team are quite simply the most passionate photographers one could imagine.  Despite having made numerous visits to the same area, both of them were almost literally running from scene to scene, hoping to get a new angle on an old theme.  Quite inspirational and motivating.

The accommodations were excellent and the meals superb.  Andy put everyone at ease and was an excellent conversationalists, providing an extra perquisite to the adventure.  He is an excellent leader who pushed participants (gently) to achieve their best results.  I started off as a complete novice but feel that I am now well on my way to achieving my goals as a photographer.

This was the experience of a lifetime.  My deepest thanks to Andy for this extremely rewarding learning experience.  I will never forget it.

— Charles Rolph, USA

I was new to landscape photography having just purchased  the camera and lenses a few weeks before the workshop. Andy and his team were very helpful in setting up my camera and explaining what to look for in setting up the photo's. The Dolomites are one of the most beautiful places I have ever been. The workshop has given me a foundation to start on my own to use my camera equipment. The spectacular views and vistas of the places we went on our hikes to take photos I will never forget. They were very professional and made the workshop a lot of fun.

Steve Bruce, USA

Andy’s Lofoten workshop exceeded my every expectation. I booked their workshop with a hope to stretch my creative and technical photography talents, while immersed in epic vistas. In this and so many other ways, it didn't disappoint. I left the workshop with an order of magnitude improvement on my photographic approach — from site selection to composition to creative post-processing. Andy and his team’s preparation, patience, and dedication to small groups provided ample 1:1 mentorship time over the 6 days. And while you can never predict the weather in any trip you take, Andy had a Plan B & C for every shoot. Even with rainy and snowy days, we had those epic vistas to learn in.

So while this was my first immersive workshop of any sort, it definitely will not be my last. Nor my last trip with Andy. I can't wait to get in to the next photographic adventure with them.

– James Stewart, USA

“I can’t thank Andy and Andrea enough for my experience in the Dolomites. As a workshop newbie I had no idea what to expect, but they were both as friendly and personable as they were talented. The whole trip went seamlessly from start to finish, and their experience of the area meant there was never a wasted opportunity. As a result of this workshop, I have a better understanding of my own creative style, and I can continue to work on it in future thanks to the input, knowledge and guidance of two excellent workshop leaders. It was everything I could have asked for. Very happy.”

— Paul Baran, UK

”The workshop in the Dolomites was an experience I’ll never forget. The workshop consisted of great food, great accommodations and of course stunning vista after stunning vista. Andy and Andrea build not only an atmosphere conducive to learning, but also building camaraderie between other workshop participants. Their friendly and open attitude, in addition to the optimal group size, lended itself to a very personal and productive
experience. They help you see an image all the way through from the field to the digital processing. I can also say Andrea is the best driver in Italy!”

— Francis Phan, USA

“My first ever photography workshop was with Andy and the team in the Dolomites and all I can say is it exceeded my expectations in every conceivable way. Andy is a seasoned pro who makes you feel at ease right from the moment you meet them.  Everything was taken care of so we just had to focus on capturing images and enjoying the experience. His local knowledge meant that no matter the weather conditions we always got to shoot something special. I learnt so much and came away more confident in my photography skills then ever before. I can’t recommend these guys highly enough.

— Paul Deegan, Ireland

Why did I go on a Landscape Workshop? Given my experience, shooting for almost 50 years I didn’t expect to learn much technique. All of the attendees were similarily experienced. So I invested my money and more importantly my time with Andy because I felt his experience and local knowledge would get us to the right places at the correct time of day given the existing weather conditions to maybe capture an interesting photograph. From his youtube videos I also knew that his communication skills were excellent. I was not wrong.

A good workshop starts with preparation and I can say that Andy and Andrea provided us with all we needed with regards to the equipment as well as the clothing we’ll need given the complexity of the changing weather in the mountains. This was a great help.
It seems that each day, Andy and Andrea had a back up plan in case something should have gone awry. Mountain weather changes by the minute, so planning ahead of time left for a seamless shift in the daily location. If we had a particularly strenuous hike the afternoon before, we might change it up to a site where we could drive almost to the location early the next morning.

The mid day Lightroom/Photoshop work was also a great plus. I took away plenty of tips from Andrea who taught me a completely new way to approach my landscape “enhancing”. But most of all just spending a week with like minded photographers from different parts of the world and different walks of life was most rewarding. We had great discussions both about technique as well as philosophy.

On a practical level, the hotels were very comfortable, the food was good, and the accomodation and food at Alpe Di Siusi was outstanding.
Even if all my photos and my back ups ended up being lost or corrupted, the week spent in the Dolomites would still have been a week well spent. In the end, that is the sign of a good photo workshop.

— Brian Tell, USA

Have you ever studied or been mentored by someone who is at the top of his or her game?  The passion for their craft is evident.  They are fully engaged in what they are the best at….no diversions, only focus.  This is Mr. Mumford.

We talked for hours not just about the operational business of the camera, f stops, ISO and shutter speed, but how images convey the stories and emotions of their subjects.  He encouraged us to think differently, be purposeful, look at the angles and curves.  See the chaos, make it beautiful.

Andy encouraged us to find a way to express ourselves in the photographs, to see what is interesting to us and how we can communicate that to others.

— Terry & Terry Harrison Herbeck, USA

The workshop led by Andy in Tuscany was everything I hoped it would be and more!  The education and advice was constructive and appropriately challenging and stretched me to focus on the details, implement new techniques and develop my style and goals for my photography.

The team of instructors come alongside you from the start and are highly engaging, offering assistance, education and their professional perspectives to help you come away with a successful photographic experience.  Each instructor offers his unique insight, which I found encouraging because there are numerous ways to achieve excellent results.  Andy and the team were very attentive to the participants throughout the entire workshop.  I felt like we were all the best of friends sharing an awesome photographic adventure!  Beautiful and inspiring landscapes.  Insightful conversations, instruction, and critiques with professionals who openly share their knowledge - just what a great photo workshop should be!

Andy and the team took great care of their participants, and this was the best photographic workshop I have experienced.  I look forward to future workshops with them.

— Pam Stennett, USA

Just returned from Andy’s Dolomites workshop and feel I learned heaps. His two partner photographers made sure that between 6 participants we all had a lot of 1-1 input. I have been on quite a few photo trips and this one certainly hits the 10 for input and tuition. Brilliant and thank you Andy, Kostas and Kostantinos. The locations were varied and interesting and the accommodation really comfy. We had two locations and my favourite one was the first one by a mile - it was much wilder and rocky rugged. The second location was more gentle and green. However - it was a good contrast and very interesting to get  a more complete picture of the region. Thank you all again.

“This was my first photography workshop and I was quite anxious about it. After spending a week in the Dolomites I have to say I’m glad I took the plunge. I learned a lot, I photographed places I would otherwise not have seen, and I built confidence that I did not develop in years of shooting on my own.
We had three instructors for 6 participants and I can’t stress enough how beneficial that was. Andy, Konstantinos and Kostas all offer different insights, different tips and have their own style of shooting. Also, there is always somebody available to help with your composition, suggest different approaches or judge your last shot.
Apart from their photographical expertise I was impressed by the patience and cordiality of all three

— Egon Scherl, Austria

Many Thanks Andy and the team for these terrific 4 days we’ve spent in the workshop with lots of fun, companionship, and of course, your expertise, committment and passion ! Could not be happier with the experience ! Hope this gets to be the first of many to come.

— Hugo Antonio, Portugal

I enjoyed the workshop a lot and you guys were great hosts! Thank you and I hope to be able to join you again in some future workshops

— Mohan Vettaikaren, USA

I had a day and a half workshop one-on-one with Andy in Lisbon and the whole experience fully lived up to my high expectations. Lisbon and it’s surrounding coastline are brilliant locations for the photographer and Andy’s love and enthusiasm for his home city were quite infectious. Being a new Fuji shooter, Andy‘s advice and guidance were particularly relevant, in addition to which I picked up a few post-processing tips. Photography aside, Andy is great company: all in all, a terrific weekend.

— Chris Jenkins, Switzerland

Andy, Konstantinos and Kostas are a great team who prepared and run the workshop that was both wonderful in terms of photography but also entertaining and enjoyable. The mixture of mentality and background within the leading group as well as the participants made the whole workshop a very lively undertaking. Tuscany is a great place to go to, even when the weather is not so perfect, but the way this workshop is run is unique. Andy, Konstantinos and Kostas provided every support necessary while making photographs in great locations and also on how to process these images afterwards. My highlight was that feedback and critique was provided in a very helpful way.

The workshop truly provides great value for money.

— Wolfgang Harnisch, Austria

I’m so glad I came to your workshop. I had a great experience, it really was a fun group and you were beyond hospitable and helpful. It was everything I hoped it would be and more. Bravo.

— Joan Lyons, USA

What sets Andy apart from other workshop instructors out there is his professionalism and expertise. From planning all the way to execution, his attention to detail is unmatched. I received timely and thorough communication all throughout the scheduling process right up to my arrival. The workshop was extensively vetted for and well researched. We are shooting in remote locations which require proper planning well in advance of the start date. Andy and his team take all of the necessary precautions to ensure you have a hassle and stress free trip during your time.

Andy is a teacher first and a photographer second. He is fully invested in his workshop participants. Unselfish and always willing to help, he provides the right balance of technical instruction and compositional guidance. What makes a photograph compelling? What are the supporting elements and how does this create a feeling or mood? His passion for photography and the natural world is contagious. With each photo session you feel more inspired to see the world differently.

One thing that resinated well with me during this workshop was the philosophical approach to photography. There is always room to grow and learn more. Enjoy the trip for what it is and appreciate all that the workshop has to offer. It’s not always about the images. Photography takes us on a journey to visit some amazingly beautiful locations, during unique times of the day, during unique lighting and weather conditions. There will always be photographs you missed or wished you captured in the field. Slow down, take your time and be present in the moment.

Repeat Customers Mean Andy’s Tours are Extraordinary.

I went on my first photo tour with Andy Mumford this last Spring (June 2023) to Namibia. I had the time of my life. (Andy probably has my review of that trip on his website somewhere.) My second photo tour with Andy was the Dolomites workshop (September 2023), which he did in conjunction with Jonas Paurell. Andy said this tour would be very different than Namibia and, as always, he was telling the truth. Like Namibia, the Dolomites are a fantastic experience but, be forewarned, there is hiking, but also quite a bit of trekking. At 72 my balance is good, but not as good as it once was; so, come prepared. I reached my limit so, if in doubt, check with Andy when you sign up.

I learned a great deal about the leaders of my photo tour when the weather didn’t cooperate. We had many days of low clouds, mist, and light rain. Andy and Jonas did a superb job of selecting (and moving) locations to maximize our chance of getting great shots. Our group of six amateur photographers and our two professionals had a great photography experience and we were all friends by the end.

So, the bottom line: Andy’s workshops are first rate and I’ll be back for another. Reviews don’t get any better than customers who come back again and again. Andy’s tours are that good.

I had the opportunity to join Andy and Jeroen on their Iceland workshop. I have been following Andy’s work on YouTube for a while. Always been a big fan of his work. So it was a treat to meet him in person. He did not disappoint. The part that caught me by surprise was his wit. Andy and  Jeroen are hilarious. We had some memorable conversations while driving around the highlands and while breaking bread together as a group.

I really looked forward to our group dinners together. It’s been a few weeks since I  am back home and I miss everyone. After a long tiring day of driving, both Andy and Jeoren would summon up energy to engage the group during our dinners. We had some wonderful food and the hotel accommodations were top notch.

Both of them were always on top of things. We had a flat tire (the roads are really rough) and Jeroen switched it out in a jiffy. They adapted to the weather conditions to give us the best chance to capture great images. I have come back home with a bunch of spectacular images.

Andy and Jeroen were always around if u needed help with flying the drone or needed composition tips. Always checking on us to make sure we are doing good. I will always remember the hike at the end of our trip. It was a tad challenging for me. I am not the most able hiker. When Andy recognized this, he made sure to walk behind me, giving me the confidence to finish the hike. Thank you Andy. Will always remember that.

I am already signed up for another workshop with Andy. Counting down the days to it

How can one craft a testimonial that strives to be more superlative, more exemplary,  more complimentary or more meaningful than the ones that already appear on Andy’s website?  It’s an impossible task but here goes.

I recently returned home from Andy’s Namibia workshop. It was my first with him.  Exceeded expectations? Absolutely. Learned lots? Definitely. Am I a better photographer as a result ? I think so. Will I be a return customer? Resounding “yes”!

A key element to the success of this and perhaps Andy’s other photo tours, is his meticulous attention to detail and the  collaboration with local talent and staff to provide opportunities unavailable in other photo workshops. In Namibia, this provided a depth of unique experiences and resources which I have never encountered in other tours. The level of instruction was carefully tailored to each individual’s experience level and expectations. Questions were always welcomed.

The camaraderie of our group was especially meaningful.  This, I believe, was equally contributory to the success of the workshop. We had fun while learning, immersed in the epic Namibian landscape.

In summary, an Andy Mumford workshop is a phenomenal opportunity to participate in a carefully curated, unique and unforgettable photographic experience.

Lofoten is all glorious mountains bathed in shimmery light, snow covered beaches, lonely churches clinging to rocky outcrops, picturesque villages and when it’s clear, aurora borealis dancing in the night sky.  The place elicits wonder and awe.  How to capture this?

I didn’t truly know what to expect from only having watched Andy’s YouTube videos.  But the vibe seemed right.  And what an intensive learning experience it was!  No time to waste, aurora conditions were in the forecast for the very first night and that meant a session making sure we knew settings and focus technique.  Daily location selection was adjusted real time per conditions that changed by the minute, usually after some debate by Andy and Jonas.  Both were always ready with feedback, with special focus on composition.  And so it went, each day, each stop.  They truly made sure that each of us would come away with swoon-worthy images.  A day of inclement weather was dedicated to theory, critique and editing.  After four days of intensive outdoor work, no one was too sorry to have a day indoors - Andy/Jonas really weren’t kidding when they said at our welcome briefing that would be a ‘working’ vacation!

Andy and Jonas are enthusiastic teachers, each with quirky wit and an easygoing manner.   Their passion for photography and the outdoors shines through.   Special thanks to the amazing Veronica, who kept it all going behind the scenes.  I’m immensely grateful for having had this opportunity and cannot wait for the next chance to learn from this team

- Francoise Giacalone, USA

Having attended different workshops in various places, I must say this is the best one!

On location, Andy and Jonas both were very helpful and attentive to all participants, making sure all of us got photos with good composition and accurate exposures. We also had plenty of time for Image critiques, discussions and lectures.

My goal was to improve my compostition skill, but I learned a lot more. I feel I have improved especially in my technique and editing skills. The workshop suits all level of skills in photography, from the beginner to advanced photographer.

The trip itself was also enjoyable, with a small number of people, good accommodation and delicious food, plenty of laughs (and singing 😀). Kudos to Veronica for the arrangement.

I’m looking forward to another workshop with Andy and Jonas.

I was fortunate to accompany both Andy Mumford and Jeroen Van Nieuwenhove to Ilulissat, Greenland. I've done guided photography tours before, but this was without a doubt the most enjoyable experience. The comradery of the group combined with the positive attitude and humor of both Andy and Jeroen was fabulous. Lodging + food were a step above what I was expecting and were memorable experiences in and of themselves. Zero regrets and while in Greenland, I discussed what other tours I could add my name onto the waitlist for. Recommended without hesitation.

I came to this workshop (Lofoten Winter 2023) looking to improve my process for composition and hoping to get 4 photos worth printing and framing.  I was taking better photos by the Wednesday!  In the field Andy and Jonas provided fantastic creative guidance by offering helpful suggestions on composition.  They were always on hand to provide advice and support. The evening sessions on theory and editing along with the image critiques were immensely informative and helpful. The ratio of two photographer leaders to seven participants meant that participants got as much one to one time as they needed, and throughout the week Andy and Jonas were ready to discuss equipment and techniques and relate stories from their immense experience.  Andy and Jonas changed the itinerary according to the weather and the conditions for aurora and their knowledge of the area. Andy also showed a sense of humour that doesn’t come over in the you tube videos! As to my expectations, first review of my images on the PC is that I have way more than 4 images worth printing, and the quality of all my images has significantly improved. The whole workshop experience was awesome, and I am already on the waiting list for another workshop.

What a week ! The workshop in the Dolomites was an incredible experience. Andy and Andrea are two amazing, experienced and passionate photographers from whom I learnt a lot either in the field or during one to one editing sessions. They also are perfect Dolomites guides, as they know inside out the area, they adapt every day shooting session depending on the weather and light conditions, so we could have the most of the places we hike to. Last but not least, accommodation and food was amazing ! A special shout-out for the buffet in Alpe di Siusi.

I can’t recommend highly enough participating in one of the workshops.

Cheers, Loïc

Greenland 2023 was an incredible experience, in a truly epic location with an amazing group of people. Andy and Jeroen are true professionals in every sense, with a passion for photography that is infectious to the group. I felt challenged to explore styles of photography that pushed the boundaries of my comfort zone, and having their guidance as well as the group to share ideas with helped me grow as a photographer. Andy seems to have a knack for creating an inclusive environment around him that brings the group together, inspires, builds friendships, and elevates the experience to an enjoyable and unforgettable one. I truly cannot recommend highly enough.

I spent a week in September exploring the highlands of Iceland with Andy Mumford.  It was one of the most wonderful trips, full of adventure and exhilaration, mixed with wonder and awe of the surrounding raw and visceral beauty. None of that would have been possible without the expert guidance, local knowledge, infectious enthusiasm and detailed planning by Andy. Andy’s photographic genius and his love for landscapes and culture of Iceland is contagious and made the trip all the more special. I would go back in a heartbeat to spend time exploring more of Iceland with him.

I did a photography workshop with Andy in the dolomites last year. That was an amazing experience. I thought It would be hard to replicate. When Andy mentioned he was planning a workshop that would be unlike any other, I was intrigued and skeptical as I knew it would be difficult to do better than the Dolomites. As Andy enthused about Iceland and especially the Highlands I was more and more curious and decided to join in. It turned out to be one of the best trips I could have imagined in terms of the sheer beauty we witnessed, the places we got to, places I would have never gone to on my own, and the amazing photographic opportunities that were presented to us. The trip was so successful because of the huge amount of planning , organizing and bravado that went into it.

Andy’s photographic genius allows him to visualize photographs that I would not see in a particular landscape and then make sure that we were presented with the best opportunity to capture it. In each location it helps to have local partners who know the area well, including a few “secret locations” which turned out to be stunners. Throughout the trip we were well taken care of and despite being in very remote locations, we never felt uncomfortable, but always felt secure.

I learned a lot on this trip about drone photography as the geography lends itself well to aerial photos. This was probably the best place to learn and the best teachers to learn from about drone photography.

Even if I had not gotten a single worthy photograph on this trip it would have been worth it for the unique landscapes, adventure and the great company. The fact that I got some amazing and unique photographs that will go in my portfolio, made it all the more special.

After watching Andy’s YouTube videos, I became interested in attending his workshops.  I recently attended a Dolomite workshop lead by Andy and his team.  Each day they would study weather forecasts and select locations that would most likely provide the best shooting opportunities.  In the field, Andy was constantly checking in with each of us to see if we needed help with our compositions.  Between shooting sessions, we would meet in the middle of the day to evaluate our photos and receive tips on how to process our pictures.  Andy is an accomplished photographers and teacher, bringing high energy to the workshop, and tailoring his comments / suggestions to the skill level of the photographer.  The workshop was truly a great experience and I highly recommend them.  I plan to attend the Patagonia workshop in 2024.

I have had the pleasure of travelling with Andy for a couple of his workshops in Iceland and more recently Namibia where he collaborated with Hougaard Malan and Jandre Germishuizen from Go Gravel adventures for their local knowledge and expertise. Knowing Andy from previous trips, I knew he would be aligning with exceptional people and the three of them worked very well together, each with their own strengths and personalities, to give us the trip of a lifetime. The logistics would have been astounding, even for our small group, however these guys are the experts and nothing was left to chance, every detail thought of and taken care of. That doesn't mean it was all serious, far from it, these guys know how to have fun and know how to make a trip enjoyable!

Their local knowledge of the locations was invaluable when it came to helping us all get photographs we can all be proud of, especially without having to always battle the crowds. All three are incredible well respected photographers each with their own styles, so having access to their photographic knowledge, skills and advice throughout the trip is an incredible opportunity. They were not intrusive at all, some in our group were professionals in their own right so didn't require much assistance but for those of us who did require input, they were always ready and willing to assist in any way they could.

Also I want to mention, as a woman travelling on her own, it is important for me to feel confident in the companies I chose to travel with and I have always found Andy to be professional, friendly, kind, courteous, respectful and inclusive (sometimes even funny). It was great to find Hougaard and Jandre offering those same standards so I was very comfortable with them as a team, they lead the group well which filters down into the general group dynamics. I can say without hesitation that I would highly recommend these guys and I will definitely be travelling with them again!

I’ve followed and appreciated Andy’s work for a few years now and recently I took the opportunity to join him in Lofoten for what turned out to be one of the most enjoyable weeks of photography I’ve ever experienced. Watching his videos over the years provided me with a sense that his teaching style and approach to photography would be something I could resonate with and gain valuable perspective from; that intuition proved to be totally correct. There is just no better way to learn than hands-on in the field with a professional you respect. Although I already valued his work and knew I could learn from him the one thing I could not have expected was to come away with an admiration for Andy as a human being. It was enough to be in a beautiful location and photographing shoulder to shoulder with Andy and a group of truly enjoyable people, but way beyond my expectations was how warm, welcoming, and genuinely human he was to everyone in the workshop. Very quickly I found myself at ease and amongst new friends, sharing humor and enjoying each other’s company. The camaraderie amongst the whole group was immense but Andy was the catalyst that made that possible; he really appears to enjoy what he does and the people he meets along the way, and that charisma fostered an environment that made the entire experience a comfortable and incredibly enjoyable one. Sincerest thanks to Andy for the laughs, fun times, and incredible photos; I hope to join him again on a future trip!

- Chris Darnell, USA

I've been hearing about Andy and his excellent workshops for some time now, but I’ve tried only last year to reserve a spot and, even in Covid times it was fully booked. Fortunately for me there was a cancellation, which allowed me to go to the Tuscany workshop. And glad I did, as I was then able to confirm that everything that was said about him, if anything, was understated. Together with his team they make an unbeatable team!

With them I went to the best spots, at the best times, had their help in choosing the best perspectives and settings. And even the post-processing sessions were very informative and  interesting.

And, as if that weren't enough, they are excellent people and pleasant company.

I hope to be able to repeat the experience!

- Rui Baptista, Portugal

How do I begin to capture what a great workshop this was?

I decided to attend Andy’s summer Dolomites workshop after checking out his work online, being motivated as well to discover this region of Italy.  I’ve attended photo workshops in the past with other photographers, which were okay. But little did I know that this Dolomites workshop would be a pure blast of joy. Andy is not only a great professional photographer who is passionate about his work and eager to share his enthusiasm and knowledge to his guests—but he is a guys with an awesome personalities and sense of humor. I not only learned a lot, but had a great time (and lots of laughs) during the process.

You can find plenty of photography workshops online, but finding one that’s this organized, professional, and fun to boot, is much harder.

This is not the last workshop I will attend with Andy, and I highly recommend that everyone sign up for one—but guys, please keep a spot open for me

- Mathieu Rossi, France

Just returned to Texas after 8 wonderful days with Andy and his partner in Italy. I really appreciated all the patient mentoring I received from these two pros. We all appreciated their ability to speak to each individual at their skill level, never judging or criticizing but always helpful and very informative.

Our accommodations were all really nice, meals fantastic and company great. We had a really cohesive group with all contributing to our time in Italy.

I really feel that I have made a great leap in my abilities due to this workshop. In addition to spending 8 days in the most beautiful parts of Italy, I came back a much more capable and confident photographer.

My thanks to Andy for his professionalism and consistent good cheer during our entire time there. He worked very hard to make sure we all had an enjoyable experience and got the maximum value out of this workshop.

A few comments about the Lofoten workshop I attended in mid February 2020, which by the way was simply awesome!

Andy and Jonas exhibited great enthusiasm from the moment we were picked up at the airport through to the final day. They both never fell below one hundred percent in taking care of our needs and planning our day,  illustrated the ability to think quickly on their feet as they sought out idyllic locations to shoot while adapting to the continually changing weather. Both Andy and Jonas stood with us while we composed our shots and were always present to offer suggestions or help if needed. I never felt rushed or pushed to move on to the next location even when we overstayed our allotted time.

The accommodations were very comfortable and provided the necessary base to operate from for the duration of our stay.

The workshops were extremely informative. The different perspectives on how the two leaders each processed our raw files in Lightroom and Photoshop was very educational. Having returned home I eagerly began to post process my images with the newly acquired knowledge. I must say the difference in my images is noticeable.

In short, Andy and Jonas are pros at what they do, they love what they do and I would highly recommend any workshop they have to offer.

Thank you Andy for such a memorable experience.

— Colin Stewart, Canada

Last month (February 2020)I attended my first workshop led by Andy Mumford.  We traveled to the wonderfully photogenic Lofoten Archipelago off the northwest coast of Norway.  I am a very experienced landscape photographer and have participated in a good number of workshops with other leaders.  In my experience, Andy ranks at the very top of all workshop leaders I have encountered.  First, he is a terrific guy who knows his craft and how to impart knowledge to others.  Second, he really knows Lofoten and, consequently, got the six participants to the right places at the right times.  Third, he was quite skilful at working around the very challenging weather conditions we encountered.  Lastly, but importantly, he is great fun to be around.  I was able to capture many wonderful images during the workshop and I am looking forward to doing more workshops with Andy in the future.  Thanks for a great workshop.

— Herb Fixler, USA

I recently traveled to Lofoten, Norway to participate in a photo workshop led by Andy Mumford. I have participated in over a dozen workshops in many countries. This was the most enjoyable and productive of all of them. Andy did extensive planning to make sure we were in the right place at the right time to get great photos. Rain, sleet, and snow didn't deter us at all. No time was wasted. He fostered a spirit of camaraderie and good cheer. If he sensed we needed help with a shot or a technical issue, he was immediately helpful. Their photo review sessions offered the opportunity to learn new skills in Lightroom and Photoshop. I can't wait to travel with him again.

“Andy Mumford offers workshops done the right way. Everything is very well planned and executed to put you in the right place at the right time to maximize your photo opportunities.
He freely shares his considerable knowledge of photography and post processing, working one-on-one with all the participants to get the most out of your images.
Andy works tirelessly to create a fun and productive adventure. You will not be disappointed.”

What an adventure! Andy and Andrea provided hands-on expertise, and plenty of smiles, food, laughter, and geekiness to fill a photo book or two. This Iceland workshop stretched my imagination and pushed me to reach a little further in pursuit of my art, and I owe a debt of gratitude to both Andy and Andrea for providing such a comfortable, creative atmosphere to express myself in one of the most spectacular landscapes anywhere!

The workshop led by Andy in The Italian Dolomites was an amazing experience. This was my first time taking part in a photography workshop and I could not think of a better team. Their attention to detail and expertise of the area led to a seamless and hassle-free week in Italy. Adapting to weather and lighting conditions, no time wasted in getting the absolute most out of the locations we visited. They provided the right balance of individualized attention and artistic freedom in helping me to develop my own shooting style. With every location I was compelled to create even more interesting compositions than the next. Because of my time in the Dolomites I have developed a new found passion for nature and all things photography.

— Marc DeSalvo, USA

Andy’s Iceland workshop exceeded all my expectations. The small group and high instructor to participant ratio ensured we all had our endless questions answered and received the help needed on location to get great compositions and learn new skills. On days when the weather did not cooperate they were very proactive in adapting plans and locations to make the best of the conditions and light. A workshop with Andy is more than just coming away with pleasing images - it’s about great food, great accomodation, wonderful company and conversations, and learning new processing and shooting skills in amazing locations. They both love what they do, and that makes all the difference.

— Hamish Cattell, New Zealand

Andy and Andrea were top leaders, the best one could hope for. Philip and I enjoyed their guidance, knowledge and companionship. Both are foremost warm and caring people, whose priority is to make the group happy - flexible, changing schedule according to weather patterns and what the group wanted. We were also lucky to have a great group for the Iceland tour. Would love to join them again.

— Odile and Philip, Australia

We were going to a beautiful country and staying in some of the most spectacular mountains on the planet. What more could I ask for.

There were six of us in the group and we all got on exceptionally well, like we already knew each other.
What I gained the most from day to day was the confidence to use the camera equipment, to better understand the technicalities of my machinery, and if you ask then you’ll get no end of help from the men up front (in the van that is).

There’s no telling what nature will provide you with from sunrise to sunset, the awesome moments make up for the times you might not be able to get out. One thing’s for sure though, you’re visiting some of the most beautiful and iconic photographic spots on Earth

— Stephen Rainbird, New Zealand

An amazing week spent in Lofoten Norway in February 2019 with Andy Mumford and Jonas Paurell from Vagabond Expeditions. I had enormous fun, felt very safe and managed to maximise every opportunity that the weather presented to us including some stellar Aurora shots! I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Andy and Jonas to anyone interested in a photography expedition where everything is taken care and you can concentrate on maximising your learning from these two very talented guys. I will be booking again with both in the future’

Thank you for a great workshop experience & for your great company over the 4 days.  I really enjoyed the group, the shooting, the accommodation, the food, the differing locations & most of all, the opportunity to shoot consistently over an extended period.  The eye has a chance to hone in on good light & composing moves closer to becoming second nature (or perhaps, third or fourth nature but definitely out of double figures!)

— Brendan Jack, Dubai

I really enjoyed the weekend, it was perfectly judged for me, balancing inspiration with tips and technique.

— John Brownbridge, UK

The Iceland workshop I did with Andy was a great experience, the photographers were a great bunch of people, being super attentive, everything well organised and we were able to see some amazing landscapes in Iceland. A very talented group of photographers

— Stephen Vincent-Grace, Australia

The Iceland workshop was a pleasure despite the rigours of sleeping like an ocean-going sailor - i.e. in bouts of 3-4 hours. It was well worth it to get the light. It rubbed off on me as I now get up - occasionally - at 5 AM to get the sunrise. Never ever did that before. I am now longing for winter.

The other pleasing aspect was that we talked about composition much more than Photoshop layers. I like that. And Andy and the team did a stellar job of asking questions rather than than just giving answers. Many thanks.

— Chris Thompson, France

I spent a fantastic week in Tuscany with Andy, Kostas and Kostantinos. It was an incredibly valuable experience toward improving my landscape photography.

They provided individualized attention in a relaxed environment that allowed one the freedom to experiment. The non-photography part of the workshop (food, lodging,  and travel to locations) was completely hassle-free. Because of my positive experience, I signed up for their workshop in the Dolomites.

— Scott Garland, USA

Thank you once again for your hospitality!! I really had a great time at the workshop and enjoyed learning with you!!

— Lydia Anastasiou, Greece

I have had the good fortune of working with Andy for a number of years.  He has taken me to various locations in Portugal, all of which were hand picked places of beauty and interest for a keen eyed landscape photographer. On each occasion, his workshops have been rich and varied experiences, both technically and artistically.

Andy has such empathy towards his students. He not only explains how to create a worthwhile image, but also demonstrates why his techniques work; guiding you through the depth and subtleties of photography. I have always found that the knowledge gained from working with Andy rubs off in such a way that it stays with you permanently.

— David Cornelius-Reid, UK

I thoroughly enjoyed the six day Dolomites workshop. I was impressed by the outstanding organisation, the wonderful locations we visited, and the excellent, personalised instruction we received. The accommodation and meals were also of very high quality.

— Rodney Topor, Australia

Discovering Tuscany with Andy and his colleagues was a very enjoyable experience for me. Tuscany obviously is an iconic destination for landscape photography, but what made this trip quite special was the mood of the accompanying pros. Not only did we cover great spots, but we did it in a proactive way, being stimulated to discover the very best shooting spots, the best framing and taking opportunity of the best light. Every part of the shooting experience was covered by the three pros with their own angle, from the very technical aspects to the spiritual mood you could adopt in order to boost your artistic creativity. A very complete and stimulating experience I would warmly recommend.

—  Pierre C, Switzerland

Thank you so much for the wonderful experience. I had the greatest time in Lisbon thanks to the workshop I did with Andy. I learned a lot  and it inspired me to think differently about my approach to pictures and what to try out.

Moreover, I was able to experience Lisbon in a way that I could never have without the workshop.

— Christian Laux, Austria

The workshop in the Dolomites was absolutely fantastic. We visited a number of stunning locations during a very well-planed trip, and I felt I could concentrate on photography while all else was taken care of. There was plenty of opportunity for great one-on-one time with Andy, Kostas and Konstantinos, who are all tremendously knowledgable and provided great insight into all aspects of the process, from shooting through processing. Great getting to know everyone in our group as well. Thanks for a tremendous experience!

— Adam Stern, Canada

This was an adventure of a lifetime…the Iceland workshop checked all the boxes. We worked with Andy for the first time in Lisbon. This was our first time working with Andrea. Both men are top professionals. We experimented with ways to improve our compositions; think outside the box and be creative. Our group hiked through iconic landscapes and captured stunning images. The one-on-one post processing sessions were comprehensive giving us new skills to improve our images. Andy and Andrea’s patience and kindness inspired us to be better photographers. We are looking forward to joining them in Tuscany.

— Terry Herbeck and Terry Harrison USA

I was very fortunate to secure a spot in Andy's 2024 Lofoten winter workshop, and wow, what a week we had! I was at the more beginner/intermediate end of the spectrum of attendees, but I walked away with many photos I was happy with each day (about 25 from the whole trip). My photography took a big step forward because of the trip.

I learned so much from getting to see a master in action in the field, especially when it comes to picking/researching locations and weather, reacting to rapidly changing conditions, and making the best of the cards you're dealt on a day of shooting. We were lucky to have mostly good conditions, but even on the bad weather days Andy had great ideas for how to use our time productively (eg. working on abstracts, intimate shots, editing and theory sessions, etc.)

Andy managed to strike a perfect balance between being hands on when I needed help but still giving me space to create photos that are truly my own / find novel compositions. We all left the workshop with very different photos, finding unique perspectives on shared locations. I learned during the trip that Andy was a teacher in a past life - that experience shone through strongly in how adept he is at guiding you in the right direction without being prescriptive on what to do.

I can highly, wholeheartedly recommend joining Andy and his team on future trips!

-Roneil Rumburg, USA

I recently returned from Iceland where I was part of a group led by Andy Mumford and Jeroen Van Nieuwenhoven. The trip was very enjoyable and I also feel my photography improved as a result. Arrangements for transport and accommodation were first class, allowing the group to immerse itself in photography for the full week. Andy and Jeroen chose shooting locations based on conditions as well as compositional opportunities. We certainly had a mixture of weather, but always came away with good images.

For me, a photography workshop has learning as a key goal and this one did not disappoint. Andy has great ability as a teacher as well as a photographer. His priority is the participant, not taking his own pictures. Andy is good at checking in with the introvert photographer to make sure they are getting the most from the scene, but without looking over your shoulder. Knowing that group dynamics impacts everyone’s experience, he also builds a camaraderie with his humour and manner.

- Stewart Logie, USA

Good fortune really smiled on me when I was able to attend one of Andy’s workshops. I recently completed an Andy Mumford workshop in Lofoten and, though the weather presented challenges at times, due to his experience, Andy did a magnificent job of getting the group to good locations. Places which were filled with excellent opportunities to create some wonderful memories and beautiful photographs.

He and Jonas provided a great deal of helpful information prior to the workshop regarding equipment, what to expect and other suggestions.

Andy did his best to insure that everyone was prepared daily. He enabled me to “see” as he sees and interpreted the locations. I will paraphrase a great quote from an artist, "I don’t photograph what I see, I photograph what I saw.” Sums up Andy's approach to photography.

If you have the opportunity to attend one of his workshop/tours, do so. The experience will not disappoint and I guarantee you will benefit from getting to know a talented photographer and wonderful human being. A good teacher who loves to share his knowledge of art, photography and the beautiful locations in which he leads his workshops.

I am already signed up for another workshop and looking forward to exploring more of the world with such talent.

- Dennis Yarbro, USA

It was my first photo experience with Andy, and I can confidently say that after attending a few photo tours, this one had the best food, the most comfortable lodging, and just the right amount of cheeky British humor. Andy did an amazing job navigating the difficult weather conditions we had while in Lofoten, and provided flexibility and freedom for the group to make decisions to adapt to different locations and weather cycles. I appreciated Andy’s business acumen, as he was very open to share successful business tactics and opportunities in the travel photography market segment. In addition to that, Andy has an amazing eye for composition and didn’t withhold any secrets when analyzing a scene. While it was my first tour with Andy, it most definitely won’t be my last! Thanks for the amazing experience.

I have followed Andy Mumfords's YouTube channel for a while now and his educational style, sensible advice, and great photographic eye, all made me want to join one of his photography workshops. When a last-minute opportunity presented itself to join his Summer 2023 Iceland Highlands workshop, which he led in collaboration with Jeroen Van Nieuwenhove, I jumped at the chance and am so glad I did -- this was one of the most rewarding photography and travel experiences of my life!

After signing up I quickly received detailed welcome/preparation materials that really helped with packing and gear selection, and was added to a chat group with the other workshop participants -- this allowed the small group of 6 to start knowing each other and break the ice a bit. This thoughtful and methodical planning extended throughout the workshop, from the initial in-person meeting of the group, to the selection of hotels (all with delicious foodie-worthy dinners and expansive breakfast buffets) in the best locations to make our destinations as accessible as possible each day , to the foresight of always having alternative plans to be able to adapt to the weather conditions (so critical in a location like Iceland where the weather is so variable), to having a large capacity power source in the cars so that everyone could charge up camera and drone batteries as needed throughout the day, to having all the necessary licences to guide a group and permits to fly drones in otherwise restricted locations, to important logistics and safety details like having walkie-talkies to communicate between the two cars and even an emergency satellite beacon for the group.

The selection of shooting locations was flawless -- to the point where I kept thinking "there's no way you can beat this spot" only to be blown away in awe all over again when arriving at the next fantastic stop. Andy and Jeroen specifically avoided busy touristy places (we drove by a few parking lots full of tour buses without stopping) and opted for less accessible, much less visited, and way more magical places deep in the Highlands. Despite it being the peak of high season in Iceland, there were a few days where we pretty much didn't see anyone else between leaving the hotel in the morning and getting back in the evening. I feel this is where Andy's strategy of always partnering up with a local photographer/guide really pays off: Jeroen has an extremely deep knowledge of all things Iceland, from the most remote beautiful locations (and how to get there safely), to the state of the roads and the safety of river crossings, to the always-changing weather patterns, to local customs and lore, and his love of sharing it with the group was palpable. Also very impressive is Jeroen's knowledge of volcanology and geography, way beyond what's "pretty" to shoot, and really deep into the details of how these magnificent landscapes came to be -- whether it's over the eons or from recent volcanic events.

I have been photographing for decades, back from the film days through DSLRs, even working professionally as a studio and commercial photographer for a while, and then taking a break for a few years. This year I wanted to refocus (photographic pun intended) on nature and landscape photography, my real passion and the subject that originally drew me into photography, and also wanted to start shooting video; I had recently swapped my old DSLR gear for a new mirrorless system, and also got my very first drone for aerial photos and video. Even having this long photography background, Andy's attentive suggestions and individualized coaching -- ranging from how to most effectively use the mirrorless system, to compositional advice at each location, to help with pre-visualizing the photo, to experimenting with settings, etc -- was extremely valuable and really educational. I learned more from Andy in these 10 days than in the previous couple of years of watching YouTube videos wanting to re-enter photography as a hobby.

Upon arriving at each location (and often on the drive there), both Andy and Jeroen would give the group extensive details about the spot, everything from how the interesting rock formations were created, to getting "the" shot that each spot is famous for (but mainly trying to find alternative compositions and new photo opportunities in that same landscape), to specific things to watch out for compositionally, to guidance on waiting for the best weather conditions (clouds, sun beams, wind), etc. Andy would set up his camera and explain to the group how he approached the scene himself, and Jeroen would put his drone up in the air and share different aerial perspectives. After this, we always had plenty of time at every single location to explore -- some people looked for different photographic opportunities in the area close to the cars while others would choose to hike up to crater ridges or to more distant spots. Not one time did I feel rushed or pressed to keep up with the group -- and this was by design, as Andy and Jeroen made a conscious effort to offer the participants extended time at every location. Another thing that both Andy and Jeroen have mastered is how to help a group of total strangers from different backgrounds gel and enjoy spending 10 very full days together. Everyone in the workshop was really friendly, empathetic, fun, and a pleasure to be around -- maybe it was just luck, but hearing Andy and Jeroen talking about past workshop experiences, I feel they have subtle ways to bring out the best in everyone and make it a great experience for every participant. There was a true feeling of camaraderie among the group and we not only learned from Andy and Jeroen but also from each other.

Andy and Jeroen, besides being very accomplished in their personal photographic style, are both super approachable, extremely funny in their very different British and Belgian styles, very passionate about sharing their extensive knowledge and these magical locations with others, having a lot of practical advice to offer, and clearly care about the enjoyment and safety of every single participant. It's been over a month since the workshop ended, and we are all -- photographers and participants -- still very actively using that online chat group, exchanging photos and jokes, asking for editing/post-processing suggestions, and critiquing each other's work.

I would highly recommend doing a photography workshop with either Andy or Jeroen (or both!), it is time and money very well spent in a fantastic experience that one will remember -- and photographically improve from -- for a very long time.

I joined Andy and Jeroen for an exceptional workshop in Iceland in 2023. This was the best photographic workshop experience I’ve ever had. I had a very special time in the highlands. Each location was selected very thoughtfully. They were beautiful and offered unique challenges and rewards. Complementing the locations was the fact that Andy and Jeroen brought their own skills and personality to the group. They are real professionals and they love what they are doing and this really had affected everyone to get energized and excited about taking photographs of Iceland’s beautiful landscape.

I am very thankful to Andy for his suggestion of bringing a drone to Iceland. I did not have any prior experience with drone photography and it was so exciting and rewarding to learn to shoot photos with a drone. Andy and Jeroen discussed their approach, insights and philosophy on drone photography and as I was new to it this was a huge help to ensure I made the most out of the trip.

I was also very lucky that our group developed a close relationship which led us having so much fun together. Andy and Jeroen both had a huge part to play in that. Finally this trip was an unforgettable experience that was exciting and enjoyable, and which stimulated me to advance my photographic skills. The memories and the images from this trip will stay with me forever, thanks to Andy, Jeroen and the rest of my group. I enjoyed this workshop so much that I already have signed for another workshop with Andy.

Since COVID, the number of photography tours seem to have proliferated. But all photography tours are not equal. Andy Mumford’s Namibia Photography Tour was exceptional!

How did I pick this tour? First, I checked out various photographer’s work looking for someone whose style I enjoyed. For me, that was Andy Mumford.  I have followed Andy Mumford and his work for many years. His style is subtle and emotive. His demeanor relaxed and approachable. He also teams with great people to improve his tours. After exploring the options. I signed up for the 12-day Namibia tour.  It was hands down the best photography experience of my life.

Along with Andy were Hougaard Malan, an exceptional South African photographer in his own right, with deep insight into composition and light as well as unique understanding of Namibia. He was assisted by Jandre Germishuizen who complimented Andy’s and Hougaard’s photographic and location skills to make a wonderful team.  And, I must also mention Simon Wearne who served as chef when we camped in the desert and driver. So, for 11 clients we had three photographers to assist us. That is a great ratio!

With a few additional staff and drivers, we set out on a 3,000 km exploration of Namibia. The tour was densely stacked and well thought out. Great food and hotels when we weren’t camping in the desert (but still great food in the desert). We had a wonderful mix of the famous locations that you’ve probably seen online, but we also visited locations that only a few dozen people have ever photographed. In addition, we had a 90-minute photo shoot in a helicopter (sans the doors), which also provided a unique and adrenaline pumping photography perspective.

We ended with a wonderful discussion of each of our five favorite photographs over drinks and dinner at the home of one of our guides.

Bottom line: This is not just another photography tour. This is top tier tour with an exceptional team. The program was well conceived and superbly executed. You can find cheaper tours but not better value for those who seek the exceptional.

After an incredible tour with Andy and his cohorts in Namibia there is nothing left to add to the testimonials I see here from my fellow goofy, talented and clearly smitten fellow participants. The itinerary was solid, thoughtful and encompassed a world of experience beyond what I imagined.  Never mind the boggling vistas, being guided by these phenomenal photographers—wonderful human beings, no less—was something I will not soon forget. Andy and Hougaard's generous suggestions and direction, Jandre's knowledge of the history of the desert and ability to manage the logistics of an adventure not for the faint-hearted, and of course Simon's incredible dune steermanship and—oh my God, cooking—to cap off a camping experience extraordinaire.  I always felt safe under Hougaard and the team's attention. They seemed aware of where everyone was and what they needed at, it seemed, all times. Magic. Or simply extremely organized, experienced, and well attuned to the group. And the group, wow!  Adventure photography and fun. What more could one ask?. . . Oh, wonderful dune drivers, meals, drinks, and lodging. Muchas gracias, Andy.

I'm not one to write reviews, but I couldn't miss the opportunity to boast that  Andy and Jonas's workshops are very focused on meeting their clients' needs and providing a personalized experience for the beginner to more experienced photographers. The small group size allowed for more individualized attention and a better opportunity to get to know other participants. Couldn't have asked for a better group of like minded photographers looking to have a great time capturing the beautiful light and landscapes in Tuscany. The high-quality accommodations also enhanced the overall experience with the afternoon lectures with slides that were great visual aids that helped break down complex concepts into more digestible pieces and provide a visual representation of the information being presented. Andy and Jonas taught me that understanding the "why" behind photography can be just as important as the technical skills needed to take a good photograph. Taking these skills learned in the lectures and applying them in the field helped communicate artistic visions through the photographs, which after reviewing all photos, provided way more keepers than expected. I definitely recommend booking a workshop with Andy and Jonas, you'll take home more than just a few beautiful photographs. Thank you again for the memorable experience of a lifetime, I definitely look forward to seeing you at another one of your amazing workshops in the near future.

Andy and his partner Jeroen truly planned, led and taught an extremely valuable trip to Ilulissat Greenland.  Both Andy and Jeroen both gave 100% attention to the participants throughout the trip to ensure the shooting, photo editing and general comfort was always a top priority.  Their light hearted personalities made it easy to feel welcome and easy to get involved with the group.  Our group became close and really did as much laughing as photography.  Andy and Jeroen both had a huge part to play in that.  This added a very supportive element to the trip and I felt I could be open to exploring my photography more.  This included drone photography.  Andy and Jeroen both talked about their approach, insights and philosophy on drone photography and as I was new to it this was a huge help to ensure I made the most out of the trip.  With their vast experience I never felt intimidated or out of place with my style of photography.  I do consider myself as an experienced photographer but they both still had plenty to teach me and give me new challenges.  Our Greenland trip offered us sunrise to late night shooting if the northern lights made an appearance but Andy made us feel comfortable to sit out a session if need be.  In the end, I really appreciated how Andy runs his trips.  He truly cares about each participant and how he can help grow their photography no matter what level we were.  I have been with other guides and while they put on a good trip, Andy surprised me with how he and Jeroen made it a great trip.  I definitely will be joining Andy on a future trip as soon as I can.

just got home yesterday and haven’t even seen all of my photos, but I enjoyed the experience so much! It’s hard to explain how much it meant to me.

I planned my Lofoten workshop a year ahead and it exceeded my expectations!! Jonas and Andy took us to unbelievable beaches in Lofoten. All the location stops were full of spectacular scenery and beauty. Andy and Jonas answered any questions we had, gave suggestions for composition, and helped me with Photoshop to process my images. They were incredibly kind, patient, and great teachers.

I liked that we all ate together, talked together, laughed together, and photographed together. The group size was perfect and we became friends with each other.

Truly, the experience was unforgettable and I hope to go on another of Andy and Jonas’ workshops!!  I highly recommend any of their workshops because they pay attention to details and make everyone feel so welcome. Not only will you come home with amazing photos but also an amazing experience!!

I have joined Andy’s workshops in both Iceland and the Dolomites and I am ready to sign up for another. Andy is a fantastic photographic guide. He does his research and develops a sense of place that allows him to react to changing weather conditions; knowing which location will be best under the circumstances. His flexibility and good humor meant that all of us had a very positive experience together, even in the middle of a snow storm. I can see how I have developed from trip to trip. It is not just different beautiful locations. He guided me to different perspectives and compositions and dare I say slowly to a personal style of my own. I found the post processing in the Dolomites really helpful in this regard. I highly recommend his workshops.

- Jeremy Read, USA

I had a fabulous week on the Dolomites workshop with Andy and his team. With their great knowledge of the area, we got to the most amazing locations at the best time to photograph them. Their guidance on photography, both in the field and in image processing, was invaluable. The group was excellent—a diverse set of people who share the same passion—and everyone contributed to the great fun we had.

- Ido Scharf, Israel

I had an amazing week with Andy and his team in the Dolomites. The workshop provided the right balance between time in the field, rest during harsh daylight and post processing sessions incl. teaching different styles, helping participants in their approach to post processing and also a critique session of the final results. Andy deeply cares about the workshop participants and involves the group in decision making process. He has always checked on everyone to ensure that the participants get the most out of the workshop, and has a relaxed approach, however not at the expense of not taking the workshop seriously. The accommodation was very good and the food excellent. What more could you ask for? Overall I would highly recommend the workshop.

- Torsten Pull, UK

WIth all my honour I was able to spend 10 days in the most remote parts of Iceland with Andy and his team. Andy had proposed an experimental workshop with a very small, nimble and motivated group dynamically venturing into the Icelandic Highlands and adapting to the changing conditions. He had me when he said “The Highlands!” :-))

Andy brought his immense photographic experience and partnered with another experienced local photographic explorer and the pair were dream guides to chase the light through the Highlands. Our workshop took us to the most beautiful and remote locations void of tourists or interfering crowds … we had the Highlands to ourselves! But we always felt like we were under the best of care and never ever felt unsafe. This unique void of a plethora of other photographers gave us time to work on everything from abstracts and vistas. The time also allowed us to experiment with more advanced capabilities with panos, timelapses, long exposures, bracketing, drone photos and videos … pretty much everything we desired!

At the end of each day, we would find ourselves in very comfortable accommodations with excellent food. Every part of the trip was thought through with back-up options readily available when circumstances or environment did not co-operate.

As is obvious by now, this workshop turning to be the most unique and exhilarating photographic experience of my life! One that started with a beautiful location but truly made special by the host and his very experienced local partner.

Finally, this being my second excursion with Andy, I can truly say that every journey with him has led to experiences I will cherish … always! Thank you Andy!

I just got back from an amazing trip to Namibia with Andy Mumford and his partners at Go Gravel’s Hougaard Malan and Jandrè Germishuizen.

Having been on a number of trips with Andy before, I knew the trip would be well designed and planned to ensure we, as photographers get the most out of the landscape, light and environmental opportunities and have the best possible experience. Also with Andy you can be assured that the group company will be fantastic ensuring that any downtime are good opportunities for socialising, having fun and always provide a further learning opportunity.

Well, Andy’s Namibia and extended Cape Town trip in partnership with Go Gravel was amazing and smashed all expectations. Everything from the logistics to the destinations, the food and duty of care from the team was exceptional. We had Andy, Hougaard and Jandrè all at hand and all awesome photographers in there own right to provide support and guidance. I’m still buzzing from this trip and I managed to both improve my photography and create a record number of photo ‘keepers’.

I would wholeheartedly recommend this Namibia trip with Andy and as a seasoned traveller, this is one of the best things I’ve ever done.

- Eren Ali, UK

I’ve been on a few workshops before, but none as ambitious as 8 days in Iceland in the winter with an impressive itinerary. So, I may be forgiven some excitement tinged with a little apprehension.

You may have all kinds of expectations from an ideal photography workshop. A brisk daily pace, detailed knowledge of the locations and conditions, an adaptable programme, good accommodation in the right places, determination to help you get the best shots, willingness to share ideas on composition, to name but a few. Not only does Andy and his team deliver on all counts, but they go out of their way to give you some photo opportunities and personal experiences that few will offer.

What you won’t expect is the warmth and friendship from two top photographers that echoes in the group as a whole and makes the experience more than just about photography.

- Roger Care, UK

I had a marvellous week in Iceland with Andy in Iceland.  I saw and did things I never would have seen or done without the opportunity they gave me. Andy and his team were absolute models of helpful and considerate support. It was far more than a client/provider relationship: they went well beyond that in every way.

It was an unforgettable experience that was exciting and enjoyable, and which stimulated me to advance my photographic skills. And I have the images that will stay with me forever, thanks to them.  Highly recommended.

- Chris Horner, UK

I had been following Andy and his work since early 2019. His philosophy on landscape photography truly resonated with me as an amatuer photographer in the Pacific Northwest. From his compositions to the way his photos made me feel, I knew that attending a workshop with Andy would truly help me develop my own style and philosophy on landscape photography.

I was fortunate enough to claim a spot in his winter Dolomites workshop. Andy was prompt in his responses and answered all my questions. Preparation leading up to the workshop was seamless. Once there, it was very clear that Andy had put in a ton of preparation and research into making sure we had amazing accommodations, and more importantly, fruitful sessions in the field that considered lighting, weather, difficulty, and more. The post-processing sessions were informative and I have a clearer sense of how to express myself through editing my photos. After attending this workshop, I can confidently say that I am much better at photographing landscapes and turning them into images that I am proud of.

Aside from everything I learned about landscape photography, I also thoroughly enjoyed building friendships and sharing experiences that made this workshop a real adventure. I look forward to going out into the field and creating my own experiences as I apply my learnings. I have no doubt that I'll be reaching out to Andy again for future workshop opportunities. I highly recommend attending Andy's workshops.

- Muntaser Ahmed, USA

I'm delighted that I attended the Iceland in Winter workshop, it was an amazing experience that I'll never forget and a wonderful way to experience the country for the first time. I'm pretty sure that won't be the last time I ever visit Iceland. I'm very grateful to Andy for the preparation and guidance for the trip, it made being a participant so easy and these trips are such a wonderful diversion from normal life.

- Dermot Russell, Ireland

It was day three, and we were hiking up the Forcella to get a good view of the Tre Cime in all its glory.  It was dull, overcast, and quite cold. Our spirits were sagging as the promise of a beautiful sunset seemed to slip away. We needed someone to show faith that it would be all worthwhile. Andy kept pushing us on and we climbed the last ridge to sit exhausted at the top with a beautiful, but as yet unspectacular view of the mountains. To keep our spirits up, Andy reiterated that the Sun might just drop below the clouds at sunset and we would be in for a special show. A few minutes later, his faith was validated and we saw the most spectacular firework of colors that poured out of the sky like a bouquet of flowers carelessly strewn across the horizon by the departing sun. The photography was amazing, the memories are even more special. This is the kind of local knowledge, instinct, hard research, and a bit of good luck you need to organize a special workshop.

I have done a few different workshops over the years and can say with confidence this is by far the best run, professional, and memorable one. Andy, besides being one of the most outstanding landscape photographers, is a great guy to hang out with, helpful and knowledgable, and runs a very professional show. Everything is organized like a well-oiled machine. He and his team know when and how to get you in the right place at the right time. Of course, you can never predict the weather, but even on dull days, we got the most out of it by shooting abstract and minimalistic photos and got some intense photo post-processing sessions and tips. Spending time post-processing with Andy is time well spent and has certainly taken my photo editing up a notch or two.

After a long but glorious day of hiking, photography, and bonding with your fellow travelers, it's always great to look forward to a good meal and a good hotel room to go back to. This workshop delivers.

I am still reimagining the beautiful sceneries, hikes, and great food we enjoyed together.

I would go back there in a heartbeat.

- Sarfraz Durrani, USA

Great experience in great places with great people. Andy is a terrific photographer and guide and a fantastic human being. From the choices of locations to photograph, to his patience and attention to the needs of the individual participants, he brings experience, knowledge and organization to the workshop experience. His humanity and kindness allowed the group to relax and interact in an extremely pleasant and open way. Totally enjoyed the whole affair.

- Ludovico Guarini, USA

Location, Light, Looking.

These 3 L’s are the key ingredients of this wonderful workshop. Andy takes you to the most beautiful locations at moments with the most beautiful light. Furthermore, he helps you to look for interesting compositions. And finally, in the post processing sessions, he helps you to find edits that make your final picture look good.

Personally, my eyes got better in seeing abstract compositions.

Thank you Andy

- Steven Warmoes, Belgium

With a mixed feeling of "will my skill level be high enough for the workshop?" and "hopefully the pros are not too bad even for stupid questions“ I flew to Venice. Less than 10 minutes after the first meeting, I knew that I didn't have to worry about such topics. Andy and Andrea are two very likeable people who welded the group together in no time. Within the 7 days, the photographic level of the whole group improved immensely. Every detailed question was answered calmly. The locations were perfectly planned and adapted to the respective weather conditions. The hotels were comfortable and relaxing, which was very pleasant as the days were long and the nights short. Unfortunately, the week passed far too quickly!

— Jan-Philip Bönte, Germany

I was very fortunate to join the Iceland Highlands workshop with Andy and Andrea. It was my first photographic workshop and definitely not my last with him. Now editing the photos I took during the workshop I can see how much I learned from both of these excellent photographers and educators. In the field we got helpful guidance on composition and technique. The post processing sessions were fascinating.  I learned new methods and enjoyed  their different interpretations of the locations. We photographed several beautiful locations that we would never have got to without their planning and local knowledge.Their humor and enthusiasm for their art, education and the stunning landscapes of the Iceland Highlands made the trip very enjoyable and worthwhile.

— Jeremy Read, USA

My second workshop taken with Andy was no less spectacular, awe-inspiring, challenging, and instructional as the first! Workshops are feats of logistical challenges made all the more difficult when balancing changing weather conditions, transportation, hotel accommodations, and the creative aspirations of several very accomplished photographers. Andy and his team are expertly adapt in all aspects of providing each participant everything required for an experience that leaves lasting, tangible lifetime memories. The Dolomites Workshop 2021 challenged me physically and creatively, but having the support and direction of Andy made me feel entirely capable to meet each challenge confidently, and I cannot wait to book another workshop with them soon!!

— Rodney Drewery, USA

“What an adventure exploring the stunning Dolomites with Andy and Andrea! Our workshop was packed with jaw-dropping locations throughout the week. The small group format created a great opportunity to make new friends and provided ample time for our expert guides to provide plenty of individual hands-on time. Both Andy and Andrea are down to earth, friendly, and have a great sense of humor. They tailored their advice and guidance to each of our skill levels and goals, whether on location or in post shoot editing. After spending the week with them, I feel like I’ve taken my photography to a whole new level. Andy and Andrea treated us to an unforgettable photography experience I’ll never forget!”

— Tom Lalor, USA

It would be an understatement to say, that my first ever landscape photography workshop was a pleasant experience. I’d had a camera for quite some years, however I was missing the self-awareness of what kind of photos really makes me feel good. Now I think, I have an idea.

I am a beginner photographer and a novice traveler. Andy’s YouTube channel was the reason for me signing up for a workshop in Iceland in the summer of 2021 and learned some important lessons about photography and beyond

I found Andy consistently contributing in my effort towards becoming a better and more aware in photography. At times I felt anxious about, finding out how efficient they are and subsequently thinking, how much time it would take for me to be close to that level of expertise. I guess, that’s part of the learning process.

My group had a wide range of interests and life-experience, and the lessons I learned from being with them for a week and travelling with a common purpose will remain with me for a long time.

— Chandan Sarkar, Germany

Andy and Andrea are professional teachers in addition to being professional photographers. They share their knowledge skillfully and appropriately, whether in the field capturing images or in the classroom processing them.

My field work improved dramatically due to the advice I received from the instructors. Andy and Andrea helped me remember to focus on composition, exposure and focus when capturing images; to pre- visualize what data the post-processing tools would need in order to convey the mood of the setting and my reactions to it.

Andy and Andrea have different approaches to post-processing. What they demonstrated was pertinent to each one of us, no matter our personal style.
We visited many beautiful locations during the workshop. The food was great, the accommodations first rate, and the companionship warm and friendly. Shared meals were always fun, with many interesting conversations going on about a large variety of subjects. Among other topics, I learned about the British glottal stop and how the Portuguese name their baby girls.

I came home with fond memories of our adventures in the dramatic Dolomites. A month later and I can still feel the exhilaration of standing high up in the cool air with the peaks all around. I have many keepers, a better skill set, and the intention to one day do another workshop with Andy and Andrea.
